ABIA STATE TO HOST AWDEC2026 IN PARTNERSHIP WITH THE MINISTRY OF SCIENCE, TECHNOLOGY & INNOVATION

Aba, Abia State, Nigeria — August 7–8, 2026

Abia State will host the second edition of Abia Web3 & Digital Economy Conference (AWDEC 2026), scheduled to take place on August 7–8, 2026, at NOBIK International Event Centre, Aba, Abia State.
Organized by Abia Web3 Network (AWN) in partnership with the Abia State Ministry of Science, Technology & Innovation, AWDEC 2026 is a platform dedicated to advancing innovation, digital skills development, entrepreneurship, and the adoption of emerging technologies within Nigeria’s and Africa’s evolving digital economy.

The conference, themed “Building Digital Economy,” will bring together government officials, policymakers, regulators, investors, entrepreneurs, startup founders, developers, academics, researchers, students, industry leaders, and technology communities to explore opportunities that drive economic growth through innovation and technology.

AWDEC 2026 builds on the success of its inaugural edition, which attracted 1,583 registrations, over 500 physical participants, and 20 ecosystem partners. The event also led to the establishment of Abia Web3 Network, a platform focused on ecosystem coordination, community development, digital skills advancement, and innovation initiatives across Abia State.

The conference will feature keynote addresses, panel discussions, workshops, masterclasses, startup showcases, exhibitions, product demonstrations, fireside conversations, and networking sessions designed to promote knowledge exchange, collaboration, and practical engagement with emerging technologies.

A major feature of AWDEC 2026 is the Stakeholders Roundtable and Mixer scheduled for Day One. This session will convene government representatives, industry stakeholders, investors, development organizations, ecosystem leaders, and partners to discuss policy, innovation, talent development, investment opportunities, and strategic collaborations that can strengthen the digital economy.

Day Two will host the main conference, bringing together participants from across Nigeria and beyond for technical sessions, industry discussions, startup engagements, exhibitions, and community activities.
AWDEC 2026 will also feature the Blockchain Spelling Bee, an educational initiative designed to promote digital literacy, blockchain awareness, and technology education among young people.

The conference aims to strengthen collaboration between government, industry, academia, and technology communities; support talent development and digital skills acquisition; encourage entrepreneurship and startup growth; facilitate strategic partnerships and investment opportunities; and showcase innovative products and solutions.

Aba provides a strategic location for the conference due to its strong entrepreneurial culture, manufacturing base, commercial activities, and growing innovation ecosystem. The city presents significant opportunities for the practical application of digital technologies across commerce, finance, manufacturing, education, and enterprise development.
Through its partnership with the Abia State Ministry of Science, Technology & Innovation, AWDEC 2026 aligns with ongoing efforts to position Abia State as a leading destination for innovation, technology, entrepreneurship, and digital economy development.

Speaking on the conference, the Convener of AWDEC, Raphael Omochor, stated:

“AWDEC is a platform that connects people, ideas, opportunities, and institutions. Our objective is to create meaningful collaborations that support innovation, digital skills development, entrepreneurship, and sustainable economic growth. We are committed to building an ecosystem where talent can thrive and innovation can create measurable impact.”

The conference is expected to attract more than 2,000 participants and will provide opportunities for networking, learning, partnerships, product visibility, talent discovery, and ecosystem engagement.
